Finding assets or bank accounts to attach to satisfy a client's judgment is very difficult. However, the real estate, mortgage and UCC records can be a great place to search a judgment debtor's name because you may turn up another lending institution. Having located this entity you can subpoena its records to see if the judgment debtor listed other assets in that institution's files.
You can check the judgment debtor in statewide motor vehicle lists to see if an upstate address is indicated and if so file your judgment in that county. If another county is found be sure to repeat the real estate, mortgage and UCC search there.
If you were to find a lawsuit where the judgment debtor is the plaintiff you could serve a restraining notice on the defendant in that suit. For the most part, litigation records are easy to access. If you do find a case with the judgment debtor as plaintiff, it could have very helpful information relating to address, company affiliation, etc. In addition, you could contact the other side in that case to obtain further information. It is fair to say your source would be reasonably cooperative.
